Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) announces Raymond Loewy’s personal Avanti Studebaker from 1963 will go up on the auction block on December 11, 2011 in the Important Modern Art & Design auction in Van Nuys, California.

This unique 1963 model, personally ordered by Loewy and handmade with custom detailing, carries the R2 supercharged engine. It was once sold at the McCormick’s Exotic Car Auction in Palm Springs (after Loewy’s death) in 1986. A model from the 1963-64 production is currently on display in Living in a Modern Way: California Design 1930 – 1965 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

The December 11, 2011 Modern Art & Design Auction will be held at the LAMA showroom: 16145 Hart St. Van Nuys, CA 91406 and will start at 12 p.m. noon (PST).

Auction Preview: December 1st – 10th; open daily 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
