SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA (August 14, 2009) – Some of Victoria’s most desirable heritage number plates and the cars they would look good on will compete for enthusiasts’ dollars at Shannons Melbourne Spring Auction on August 31.

VicRoads have entrusted Shannons with the sale of 10 collectible three, four and five-digit Heritage plates, while the auction will feature four additional plates from private vendors – three of them offered unreserved – with the most desirable expected to sell for around $55k.

Shannons have staged successful auctions for both VicRoads and NSW’s RTA in recent years that have resulted in record prices and have established the company as Australia’s foremost authority in the sale and valuation of Heritage numeric plates.

The auction will also feature an eclectic range of 35 classic vehicles spanning nine decades from 1924 to 2005, with the most fancied lots expected to sell for up to $68,000 and 13 offered unreserved.

The most sought-after of the number plates are the numeric combinations ‘285’, ‘306’, ‘482’ and ‘878’, for which Shannons have quoted a guiding range of $32,000-$56,000.
