FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (March 30, 2010) – RM Auctions, the world’s largest collector car auction house, completed its second March sale in the Sunshine State with the Collector Cars of Fort Lauderdale event this past weekend at the Broward County Convention Center. In all 365 cars sold achieving $16 million in total sales and a solid 79% percent sell through rate.

“The combination of interested bidders in attendance, on the phone and over the Internet produced an exciting sale in Fort Lauderdale, with many lots surpassing their pre-sale estimates,” said Donnie Gould, RM partner and 30-year veteran of the collector car market.

RM once again represented automobiles from the estate of Mr. John M. O’Quinn. A total of 138 O’Quinn motor cars, all offered without reserve, crossed the block in Fort Lauderdale, representing $6,843,000 million in sales.

The top-seller of the weekend was a well-documented and restored 1935 Auburn 851 SC Convertible Sedan, from the O’Quinn estate, which brought $211,750.

Other high sales include:

• a dashing 1931 Cadillac Model 370-A V12 Convertible Coupe for $209,000;

• a 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640also for $209,000;

• a perfectly restored 1954 Buick Skylark Convertible for $187,000;

• a majestic 1935 Packard Twelve Convertible Sedan, from the O’Quinn estate, for $165,000; and,

• a high-quality 1969 Ford Boss 429 Mustang, from the O’Quinn estate, for $151,250

Up next on the RM calendar of events is the Classic Car Auction of Michigan April 24-25 at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi – the Midwest’s largest indoor auction. This event presents 300 plus motor cars, many offered without reserve, over the course of the two-day sale.

The Michigan auction is followed closely by the inaugural Sporting Classics of Monaco May 1 at the Grimaldi Forum and held during the same weekend as the 7th Grand Prix Historique de Monaco. An additional 12 automobiles from the O’Quinn estate will be on offer in Monaco.

RM is also set to drop the hammer on an outstanding private collection of high-powered muscle cars in San Diego, California on June 19. Billed Classic Muscle & Modern Performance, the event will present over 80 magnificent examples from a prominent Southern California collector, all to be offered without reserve. From GTOs to Corvettes, Chevelles and Mustangs, the offering spans a variety of iconic Detroit muscle and represents the owner’s lifelong passion for high-performance vehicles.
