Duesenberg never used the label “SSJ.” It is believed that only four of the dual-carburetor supercharged Duesenberg “J” engines were made originally. The other two of those four were owned by Ab Jenkins, later mayor of Salt Lake City. He put one in the long chassis of his Duesenberg “Mormon Meteor” (possibly the ugliest car ever to win Best in Show at Pebble Beach) and in 1935 he set the 24 hour record on the Salt Flats of Bonneville, over 135 mph average. It stood until 1961.

Possibly the most beautiful and important American made car in the world.

Aside from the very important car presented, I note with awesomeness and admiration the closing remark “Proceeds from the sale will be used to support Collier’s mission to create a substantial and self-sustaining automotive knowledge legacy for future generations”, as perhaps a more important cause than the car itself ????????????

Kudos and huge congrats to Mr. Miles Collier ????????????
