Chad opted for a more formal education on automotive technology at WyoTech, in Laramie, WY, after tearing into his 1967 Chevrolet Camaro at age 17. A few years later, he wound up at a Ford dealership for a while, specializing in repairing PowerStroke turbo diesels, and enjoying rekeying Focus ignition lock cylinders. He has a fondness for dreamily searching for cars on eBay Motors and tromping around junkyards. He is a valuable part of getting auction information into the magazine.

From the Auction Desk

It’s a new week, and that means more rescheduled auctions these days. However, it seems that companies are pretty confident that they have dates where we can all meet up again. Late last week, Mecum announced the rescheduling of its flagship Spring Classic sale in Indianapolis, IN. Originally slated for […]

From the Auction Desk: Thin on the Ground

I was really looking forward to Gooding & Company’s Passion of a Lifetime sale at the Somerset House in London, U.K. It was due to hammer tomorrow, April 1 in London. That would have been the first international sale that Gooding took on during my time here at SCM. It’s […]

From the Auction Desk: Cars in the Time of Coronavirus

Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Sláinte. What a week it’s been. From RM Auctions moving their Palm Beach sale to the Internet — and Barrett-Jackson just postponing their Palm Beach sale by six months — the immediate auction calendar took a major body blow. The subsequent recommendations from the Federal Centers […]

From the Auction Desk: Amelia Island Best Buy

In this spot a few weeks ago, I highlighted the expected top-dollar American cars from Amelia Island. The no-reserve 1930 Duesenberg Model J convertible I expected to be the top American-built sale from the island ended up second on that list at $1,132,500. A 1932 Duesenberg Model J Stationary Victoria […]
