Dana Point, Calif., will be the epicenter of automotive heritage and luxury during the 29th Annual Dana Point Concours d’Elegance, June 24-26, on the Monarch Beach Golf Links at the prestigious St. Regis Monarch Beach. The three-day celebration will feature an impressive array of activities for automotive enthusiasts of all ages, including an art exhibition, Vintage Automobile Auction by EG Auctions and more than 250 classic cars competing in the Concours.
“The 2011 Dana Point Concours d’Elegance is the premier celebration of automotive elegance in Southern California,” said Dick Waitneight, chairman on the board of the Concours. “With stunning oceanfront views, inviting beaches and world class spa facilities, Dana Point is the perfect five-star destination to enjoy all the best automobiles the West Coast has to offer.”
EG’s Vintage Car Auction vehicle preview will kick-off the weekend festivities on Friday, June 24, on the Sea Terrace Park, followed by an exclusive invite-only reception that evening. With more than 100 pristine collectible cars rolling across the auction block, the EG auction has a wide variety of automotive vehicles. The auction is scheduled for Saturday starting at 10 a.m. and on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. PDT. The Saturday auction is free to the public. Bidders and consignors are encouraged to register for the auction by following the link to www.theelectricgarage.com.
“The Dana Point Concours has evolved into a three-day weekend that brings together the best and most impressive vehicles from our rich automotive history,” added Waitneight. “Visitors will not only have the chance to see some of the most beautifully-maintained collectible cars on the lawn, but also purchase one during the auction.”
The highlight of the weekend will begin Sunday morning as display vehicles check-in for the official Concours. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to compete in 30 different classes and vie for some of the most prestigious awards, including Best of Show, Briggs Cunningham Award, Charles Hester Family Award and the Kent Wilken People’s Choice Award, to name a few.
Throughout the weekend, the Jaguar Club of America will display some of the best examples of the marquee, while the finest automotive art from around the world will be exhibited on the South Lawn Winner Circle. Paintings, lithographs and sculptures will be available for purchase from the artist and a percentage of all art sales will be donated to charity.
“Southern California is the perfect destination to fuel our automotive passion,” noted Waitneight. “We invite all classic and contemporary car collectors and enthusiasts to join us in our commemoration of the automobile.”
