April 26, 2007: Houston, Texas: The Worldwide Group announced today that both Carroll Shelby and Sir Stirling Moss will attend The Houston Classic Auction to introduce some very significant cars with strong ties to both men.

Mr. Shelby is set to introduce both a Shelby GT 500 KR Convertible, and will also introduce one of the most important cars in the auction, the 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe which was commissioned by Mr. Shelby personally for his use.

Another very historically significant Shelby car will be there as well, a Shelby GT350 prepped to R specifications. This car was driven and owned by Sir Stirling Moss and documented to be his personal favorite at the time. The FIA paperwork accompanying the car is still in Sir Stirling’s name.

“We are honored to have two of the most legendary men in racing history introduce these important race cars,” said John Kruse, managing partner for The Worldwide Group. “The GT 350R and Daytona Coupe are two of the best from their time, and having these gentlemen here to introduce and talk about the two examples being offered is icing on the cake!”

The GT 350 R prepped car is fully race ready and comes with racing history including Sir Stirling Moss’s achievements. It is fully restored and has won numerous significant awards at Concours events as well.

The Daytona that was commissioned personally by Mr. Shelby represents possibly the most important coupe built in the last 37 years, as it is on a correct cobra chassis and is fully FIA eligible.

“Having these two cars at this event singularly makes this one of the most notable sales in recent memory,” said Rod Egan, Auctioneer for The Worldwide Group. “Having Sir Stirling Moss and Carroll Shelby to attest to the provenance really adds to this history-making sale.”

The Houston Classic Auction is on for May 5th in Seabrook, Texas (outside of Houston). Interested parties can log onto www.WWGauctions.com or call 866-273-6394.
