This 1954 Comète wears the upgraded Monte Carlo designation. Just 699 Monte Carlo’s were produced which boasted a larger more powerful 3.9L (239 CID) engine, luxurious leather trimmed interior, wire wheels, non-functioning hood scoop, and egg-crate grill. All Monte Carlo models were fitted with a a truck-derived Pont-à-Mousson four-speed manual transmission rather than the available Ford three-speed of the time. This example was the recipient of a multi-year rotisserie restoration. No expense was spared in the restoration of this car which culminated in an invitation to the 2019 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Recently, this Comète Monte Carlo was exhibited at the Amelia Island Concours. Few Comètes are known to remain and fewer of this quality.
