Hosted in conjunction with the 36th annual Barrett-Jackson auction, the seminar series lets enthusiasts tap into the expertise of some of the world’s most renowned collector car experts.

Of genuine interest to anyone involved in car collecting, the seminars will be held at Monterra’s Restaurant at WestWorld from 9:30 a.m. until noon on three successive days during the start of auction week. The seminars will be right in the thick of the auction happenings, so participants won’t miss a thing.

Seminar topics include: “Auction 101: How to Buy & Sell at Auction and Still Have a Good Time,” which reveals how to buy and sell at live/online auctions; “Training Your Eye: How to Read What a Car Is Telling You” discusses the fundamentals of visually evaluating a car; and “Decoding Value: Resources for Authentication” outlines the need for accurate documentation and the parameters of proper authentication.

Collectors, investors and enthusiasts can learn first-hand from industry experts McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty Insurance Agency; Keith Martin, publisher of Sports Car Market magazine; Dave Kinney, owner of US Appraisal; Craig Jackson, the man behind Barrett-Jackson; Carl Bomstead, auction analyst and columnist; Donald Osborne, auction analyst and appraiser; Colin Comer, restorer, collector and vintage car dealer; and Galen Govier, a noted valuation expert.

“We began the Smart Collecting Seminar Series to give enthusiasts an edge on subjects such as vehicle valuation, auction basics and authentication,” says McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty.

“We’re excited to bring industry experts to the forefront in this informal way so any enthusiast – from beginner collector to seasoned veteran – can get an inside look at how it’s done.”

Refreshments and take-home materials are included with each seminar. Participants can register for one, two or all three seminars in the series. The cost for each seminar is $425 with a 10 percent discount offered on the second seminar and 15 percent off the third.
