Lance Miller, Honored at the National Corvette Homecoming Event in Bowling Green, Kentucky with the Key to the City and Titled Kentucky Colonel

CARLISLE, PA – Carlisle Events is pleased to announce that Lance Miller, co-owner of Carlisle Events, was honored with a “Key to the City” and titled Kentucky Colonel, thanks to Governor Steve L. Beshear at the National Corvette Homecoming Event held in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Kentucky Colonel is the highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Colonels are Kentucky’s ambassadors of good will and fellowship around the world.   Kentucky Colonelships are commissioned for an individual’s contributions to his or her community, state or nation, and for special achievements. Well-known Colonels include President Lyndon B. Johnson, Winston Churchill, Harland “Colonel” Sanders, Muhammad Ali, Betty White, George Clooney, Ashley Judd, Johnny Depp, Kenny Perry and Elvis Presley.

Lance Miller, co-owner and partner of Carlisle Events, is a second generation promoter of one of the world’s largest collector car, truck, and motorcycle destinations in the world.  2011 has been an exciting year for Miller with the release of The Quest, the acclaimed documentary about the Briggs Cunningham Corvettes that raced for the first time at 24 Hours of Le Mans back in 1960, and the announcement of Carlisle Blue Metallic as an addition to the 2012 Corvette palate of colors.  As Grand Marshal of the National Corvette Homecoming Event, Lance Miller was slated to conduct seminars and appear at the VIP Meet and NCH Parade.

“It has been an amazing year with the addition of Carlisle Blue Metallic as a 2012 Corvette color choice by Chevrolet and now this incredible honor,” Lance Miller, co-owner of Carlisle Events commented.  “Thirty years ago my father, Chip Miller, started the Corvettes at Carlisle event in Carlisle, PA to celebrate his passion for the Corvette.  His passion has influenced countless generations of enthusiasts including myself.  I am both humbled and honored to accept the key to the city and title of Kentucky Colonel presented to me by Joe Pruitt, Mayor Joe Denning and Governor Steve Beshear.”

Lance Miller continued, “What makes this a great honor is that Bowling Green is the home of America’s favorite sports car – the Corvette.  I can’t wait to celebrate our 30th anniversary of Corvettes at Carlisle to honor my father and America’s sports car.  Be sure not to miss our special display ‘The Road to Carlisle Blue’ where we’ll showcase every shade of blue ever produced by Chevrolet all the way up to the all-new Carlisle Blue Metallic during Corvettes at Carlisle August 26-28, 2011.  My father had a saying, life is good.  And, indeed, life is good!”
