Clearwater, Florida (October 10, 2006)- – Ron Clark has been named President of Speedster Motorcars following the departure of Todd Bontrager, who was recently named President of United Trailers. Mr. Clark previously served as Production Manager at Speedster.

Clark has spent more than 35 years in the automotive industry, beginning his career as an apprentice at a Ferrari dealership in Denver, Colorado in 1972. For the next 25 years he serviced and restored some of world’s finest exotic and collectible cars.

In the early 1980’s, Clark’s path led him to racing and a second career in motorsports. There he built and crewed race cars for such renowned events as the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, Bonneville Salt Flats world land speed record, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and many of America’s
major endurance races.

In addition, he spent three years working in the Indy Racing League with drivers such as Jeff Ward (1997 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year), Steve Knapp (1998 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year), Robbie Buhl, Eddie Cheever (1998 Indy 500 Champion) and Jacque Lazier, for whom he served as crew chief.

Clark came to Speedster Motorcars in May 2003 as a designer and has been involved with the production of Speedster’s three lines of classic automobiles: The 1936 Auburn Boattail Speedster Replica, the Z-Series and the new GW Coupe, which is molded after the 1955 Mercedes 300SL coupe with its famous “Gullwing” doors.

“Ron has an extensive automotive production background that will contribute to the company’s growth,” said Speedster owner Timothy S. Durham. “His detailed knowledge of classic cars, their history and worldwide appeal will continue to be an invaluable asset to Speedster.”

“I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter at Speedster,” said Clark. “Relying on my experience with each of our classic car lines and my history in the automotive industry, I feel like I’m in a great position to further expand Speedster’s reach around the world. The GW Coupe will help increase
the classic car enthusiast’s interest in Speedster and our offerings, thereby opening up new sales possibilities and demand for future models. It’s truly an exciting time.”

In business for over 25 years, Speedster Motorcars specializes in hand-crafted turnkey replicas of the 1936 Auburn Boattail Speedster. Speedster also operates two other classic car lines including the Z-Series, which was inspired by the 1939 Lincoln Zephyr, and the GW Coupe, which is reminiscent of the 1955 Mercedes 300SL coupe.
