Here we go: a week of auctions, over 2,500 cars for sale, and thousands of bidders and spectators. It’s Arizona time, and as you read this, the ACC team is on our way to the Valley of the Sun to cover this year’s events as they happen.
Arizona is one of my favorite trips of the year. I’ve been going for almost a decade now, and leaving behind winter for a week is great — and the cars that always show up here are fantastic, too. It’s like a little piece of spring (or summer) right smack in the middle of winter.
The ACC team is going to be everywhere this week, picking cars for our next issue of the magazine while we’re on-site at the auctions. In addition to that, we’re hosting an ACC seminar at Barrett-Jackson tomorrow morning, where I’ll be sitting on the panel alongside ACC writers B. Mitchell Carlson, Colin Comer, and John L. Stein. Rounding out the panel is Corvette expert Mike Yager of Mid America Motorworks. We’ll be sharing our choices for the best cars both in value and usability by decade. It should be a great time, and if you haven’t already signed up to attend, you can still do it here.
We’re also selling the ACC Nova at Barrett-Jackson as lot 684. It’s a great car, and it’s one that I think everyone on staff will miss — original 283, 4-speed manual, and an all-new vinyl interior with buckets from an SS coupe. It crosses the block on Thursday afternoon — check it out if you’re on-site, and watch for more info on the entire sales process from start to finish in an upcoming issue of ACC. I’ll be there, too.
Issue number 14 ships to the press during the first week in February, and it’ll include all this year’s Scottsdale results. Will we see the $270m I predicted a few weeks ago? Stay tuned!
