Keith Martin has been involved with the collector car hobby for more than 40 years, and is the founder and publisher of this magazine. Keith has also written for the New York Times, Automobile, AutoWeek, Road & Track and other publications, has been an emcee for numerous concours, and had his own show, “What’s My Car Worth,” shown on Velocity. He has received many honors, including the Lee Iacocca Award, the Edward Herrmann Award, was inducted into the Concorso Italiano Hall of Fame, and more. For those in need of a reason to buy a car, the holiday season offers the perfect excuse. As my birthday comes near Christmas, I conjure up even more fantastical justifications. It’s the time of year that you’re likely to hear phrases like these from around the SCM office:     “It’s Christmas, I deserve an Alfa Sprint.”      “I haven’t bought a car in months, and I need one more Lotus before the year is out.”      “If I buy a TR6 before the end of the year—for business purposes of course—I can take an entire year’s depreciation.”
