Keith’s Blog: The SCM Sporto is on BaT

If you’ve been following this blog, you’re aware of the saga with my 1975 Porsche 911 S Sportomatic. It was discovered by an SCMer at the Hershey Swap Meet car corral in 2022. I bought it sight-unseen, and it wasn’t until seven months later that I got to drive it for the first time.

Over the past three years, the car became a favorite of both my son Bradley and Editor-in-Chief Jeff Sabatini. We’ve gotten it dialed in as we addressed most of its defects, with new shocks and a rebuilt engine leading the list of maintenance work. All this fettling was done in anticipation of using it for touring with the local Porsche club.

While it’s been driven on several of them, I’ve come to the conclusion that I am more comfortable in a more modern car. The 911 S has already been replaced by a 996 C4S, and it’s now time to send it along to its next caretaker.

You can find the auction on Bring a Trailer here.

Please share the link with anyone you know who might be interested in owning this great car, and good luck bidding.

I don’t know. C4S over a 911 ? Ya I’m getting old too so maybe I’d want something softer and heavier with a/c and power steering and such. lol

A sportomatic 911 is not the same as a 5 spd gearbox 911 ! It has very limited appeal among us Porsche collectors . Porsche Prices are coming down now and be happy with whatever BAT brings you in the Auction ! Welcome to the Old Age Club !
