San Francisco, 1 December 2006 – Renowned auction house Bonhams & Butterfields will host an auction of rare and historic motorcycles at Legend of the Motorcycle Concours d’Elegance.
The announcement marks the first auction of motorcycles to be held at the international event, and will consist of classic and high-value motorcycles and memorabilia.
Bonhams & Butterfields is a leading auctioneer of motorcycles and motorcars, hosting auctions at prestigious motorsport events throughout the world. The establishment of a prominent auction at Legend of the Motorcycle is seen by many as a natural fit.
Says concours co-founder, Brooke Roner, “With so many collectors and remarkable motorcycles from around the globe already in one place at the same time, an auction is not only elemental but a perfect addition to the schedule of events.”
In addition to the motorcycle auction, there will again be a charity auction with luxury goods donated by participating sponsors. Last event’s charity auction – conducted by Bonhams & Butterfields – included an impressive array of items, such as the Triumph ridden by Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible III and a factory racing experience with Bentley Motors. And, as before, all of the proceeds from the charity auction will benefit non-profit organizations. Bidders interested in both auctions will be able to participate in person or remotely.
Parties interested in consigning motorcycles for the auction should contact Mark Osborne, Specialist in Charge.
The second annual Legend of the Motorcycle Concours d’Elegance will take place on Saturday,
May 5th, 2007 at the breathtaking ocean-side Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, California, just south of San Francisco. For more information on this unique, luxury charitable event, visit
