Classic Motorcar Auctions LLC announces total sales for their 3rd annual Grande Salon Auction reached $1.7 million, including buyer’s premium.

The two-day auction, which was held Sept. 15-16, 2012 during the Glenmoor Gathering event at the historic Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio, had a 51% sell-through rate.  The auction’s high sale was a beautifully restored 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged Phaeton at $150,000, followed by the 1912 Ford Model T prototype six cylinder Speedster once belonging to the legendary Edsel Ford, which sold for $145,800.  A 1986 Ferrari Testarossa rounded out the top three cars with a final sale price of $65,380.

“This year’s Grande Salon Auction was the most successful event in company history, with a large crowd interested in the five different estates we offered and the many no-reserve vehicles crossing the auction block,” said Bob Lichty, president, Classic Motorcar Auctions.  “In addition to onsite buyers, we had an increase in the number of phone and internet bidders because the quality of the memorabilia was so strong.  The William A.C. Pettit, III Collection had some very special memorabilia items that interested collectors.”

The memorabilia sales brought in about $170,000 and included four classic car engines on display stands.  A 1931 Stutz DV-32 dual overhead cam inline eight with ancillaries and transmission topped the memorabilia sales at $40,250.
