Join us for a memorable day of motoring excitement and friendly competition combined with great food and wine … all the while raising money for a great cause !!
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest
voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. The LLS is a non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of individual and corporate contributions to advance its mission. As a result of continued research funded by the Society, overall survival rates for patients living with leukemia have more than tripled in the last forty years.
This drive will take a few chosen, rare and historic cars on a breathtaking tour from the quaint setting of Folsom’s Sutter Street to the golden foothills of El Dorado County, then along country roads to the historic Coloma Valley. The tour will end in Rocklin with the “Driven to Find a Cure Gala”.
Where does the competition aspect of this event come in to play, you ask? Participants will collect funds for the LLS during the designated hours of the tour. The funds may be delivered to entrants by pre-arranged plans at any of the four stops along the tour route, or may be collected from the general public at any of the stops. Representatives from LLS will be available at all stops to collect cash, checks or credit card donations to apply to the entrants’ rally total. The trick will be to work your Rolodex, computerized contact lists, friends and family to be the “most driven” contestant in this competition for the Cure.
The day will begin with an exhibit of tour motorcars along historic Sutter Street in the city of Folsom during which time participants will register and receive their tour jacket, cap, gift basket and instructions for the route.
A stop for wine tasting at David Girard Vineyards, located in the Sierra Foothills, one mile from the historic gold mining town of Coloma and Sutter’s Mill will allow another opportunity for participants to collect their cash as they enjoy award winning wines. The beautiful 85 acre vineyard property bears mature fruit native to the great Rhone Valley.
Upon leaving Coloma Valley participants will drive to Masque Ristorante located in La Borgata, the beautiful Tuscan style village in El Dorado Hills. From the majestic fireplace and grand patios surrounding the Cafe’ and the Bar area, to the exquisite cuisine on the menu, everything at Masque evokes “La bella vita”, the beautiful life.
The tour will then take participants back on the road to meander along scenic vistas of some of California’s most picturesque rural settings to the final stop, Zinfandel Grille in Rocklin. At this time participants will enjoy gourmet food and wine while their motorcars are on display during the Driven to Find a Cure Gala. There the grand prize, a fabulous Panerai watch, will be awarded for the most driven of participants, the one who has raised the most funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society throughout the day.
All proceeds from this event will go directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
