What cars are going to see increases this year? We’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime, here are three models I think you should watch going into 2019.
Tri-Five Chevrolet
These cars have been the bread and butter of the American market for decades, but they appeal to a demographic that seems to be more interested in selling them than buying them right now. Prices have started to turn down on these cars — even for great examples — but will that continue? Will new buyers step up and buy these icons, or will prices drop as supply increases? Scottsdale should tell us more.
1973-87 GM Truck
Earlier C-10 pickups, specifically those built from 1967-72, continue to be hot sellers. That has started to raise interest on the next generation of GM pickups as well, both because of their similar simplicity and their slow vanishing act from every street corner in America. They used to be everywhere. Now they aren’t. I’m not sure when that happened. Regardless, the market has started waking up to these Square-Body trucks, and I expect we’ll see growth in interest, prices, and availability in 2019. A good time to buy? Maybe.
C5 Corvette Z06
Starting in 2001, Chevrolet’s Corvette got a performance boost in the Z06. First rated at 385 hp, then at 405 hp in 2002 through 2004, the C5 Z was the hot ticket in Corvettes, and they’re still solid performers with a lot of potential as fun drivers. As Corvette performance continues to evolve, what was yesterday’s top example becomes cheaper and more accessible. If you’re looking for a great all-around driver, 2019 might be your year to pick up a Z06.
