Bonhams is delighted to offer this beautiful example of a knowledgeably restored and race-ready XK 150 SE with an impressive racing history. Originally finished in Olive Green with matching leather upholstery, this manual-transmission XK 150 was first registered as “JYO 1” on April 10, 1959.
It was not until late 2014 that the previous owner started restoration with the aim of creating a competitive, race-prepared XK that would be suitable for the incredible array of historic events for which the XK 150 is eligible. The car was completely stripped back, repainted to its original Olive Green color, and rebuilt with completely new components that are compatible with the XK Challenge regulations.
“345 HAJ” would then go on to compete in the 2015 XK challenge and would place 1st in class on three occasions and 2nd in class three times. In early 2016 the XK was altered to Appendix K specification, which allowed it to compete in the Jaguar Heritage Challenge, where it would again place 1st in class. It would also place 2nd in class in the 2016 XK Challenge. This XK 150 has a highly creditable race history, with eight podium finishes out of eight meetings.
Over the previous four years, the car has been subjected to substantial works and maintenance in the hands of renowned Jaguar and XK specialists CKL Developments. Invoices are on file totaling about £158,000 worth of work and preparation during this period and are testament to the car’s condition today.
