Steve Bramati sent in an email about his 1967 Corvette 427/435 L71 convertible:
After years of bothering my good friend, I was able to purchase my all-time favorite Corvette. A red on red 1967 427/435 convertible. My buddy is a very prominent Corvette collector who has many rare Corvettes, but as soon as I saw this one, it was instant infatuation.
I remember him saying, “This is the one that everyone wants and that people try to clone” It has the MSO, tank sheet, and full ownership history back to new. The car is factory optioned with L71, M21, K66, radio, side exhaust, heavy duty suspension, redline tires and is a hard top-only car.
I have pictures of it when new and before its restoration, and when one see the pictures, it’s hard to understand why they restored it, but it was done in 1986 when cosmetic perfection was the norm—and not preservation of nice original cars. The car has never been in an accident and retains its original drivetrain/stampings and tags.
It has won three Bloomington Gold certificates, an NCRS regional Top Flight award and a Triple Crown award. The car sounds fantastic with the side exhaust, and while it’s a trailer queen, I thoroughly enjoy going in the garage and looking at my artwork on wheels. The best part of owning this car is the great friendships that I have made over the years. Whenever I speak with its prior owner, I always thank him for selling me the car.
