Bridgehampton, 10 May 2007 – Over one hundred classic and collectible automobiles will be on sale and on show during the weekend of June 9-10 in Bridgehampton, New York. These twin events — the Hamptons Auto Classic/2007 Auction and Hamptons Concours d’Elegance — kick off the gala summer season in one of the most affluent resorts in the world.
The Hamptons Auto Classic/Auction 2007 (www.hamptonsautoclassic.com) takes place on Saturday, June 9th on the playing fields at Hayground School on Mitchells Lane in Bridgehampton. Since the Auction’s inception in 1992, record prices have been achieved for a wide variety of antique, vintage and classic cars including exotics, sports cars and convertibles. This year a stunning XK-120 Alloy Jaguar will go on the auction block. Fewer than 200 alloy-bodied XK 120s were ever built. Built in 1949, this rare racing beauty was fitted with “C” type Dunlop disc brakes and factory “C” type aluminum racing bucket seats in the ‘50s. Additionally, the engine was upgraded to a 3.8L with triple 2” SU carburetors for added performance. Says Peter Mole, President of Kensington Motor Group, “The car flies!”
On Sunday, June 10th, classic motor cars from around the world will compete in classes and for special awards, at the Annual Hamptons Concours d’Elegance,
(www.hamptonsconcoursdelegance.com) also held on the playing fields at Hayground School on Mitchells Lane in Bridgehampton. The Pit Stop Cafe will once again serve snacks and lunch.
On Sunday at Noon, there will be a Cocktail Reception honoring Concours winners. Princess Yasmin Aga Khan, Honorary Chief Judge, will present the awards.
General admission on Saturday is $15.00; on Sunday $25.00; The cost for the Sunday Cocktail Reception is $125. A portion of all proceeds benefits Habitat for Humanity.
