RM Sotheby’s returned to the Ritz-Carlton at Amelia Island this past weekend for the company’s 22nd annual sale as the official auction house of the renowned Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. A two-day auction for 2020, the sale was a resounding success, totaling more than $35.8 million and with 94 percent of all lots offered finding new homes. Bidder registration exceeded that of 2019, representing 30 countries and with 17 percent bidding with RM Sotheby’s for the first time.
RM Sotheby’s Totals $35.8 Million at Amelia Island
A 2003 Ferrari Enzo that brought $2,782,500 led the way to RM Sotheby’s $35.8 million total at their March 6-7 Amelia Island Auction.
Second-highest sale was a 1938 Bugatti Type 57 cabriolet at $1,655,000, and third place went to a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT/L Lusso at $1.6 million.
Bidders snapped up 94% of the lots.

Russo and Steele has canceled their March 10-12 Amelia Island Auction.
The auction was canceled this year because of problems with the site at the City of Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport, said Ty Woodhall, Russo and Steele marketing director.
Russo and Steele is working with the city to improve the site, and the company will have an Amelia Island Auction in 2021, Woodhall said.
Russo and Steele is now focused on their August 12-15 Monterey Auction, Woodhall said.

A matching-numbers 1958 BMW 507 Series II roadster — part of the Poster Car Collection — was high sale at €1,996,250 ($2,225,819) at RM Sotheby’s Paris Auction on February 6 at Place Vauban.
Total sales were €16.5 million ($18.4 million), with 75 percent of the lots sold.
