2016 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion to celebrate BMW’s 100th anniversary

A record number of BMWs are set to take part in the historic races at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion from August 18-21 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Out of a 550-car grid made up of vehicles from Bugatti, Morgan, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, 64 cars will be of BMW heritage.

Auctions America Fort Lauderdale sales reach $20m

Auctions America’s April 1-3 sale in Fort Lauderdale, FL, saw 70 percent of lots sold, and total sales reached $20 miilion.

A 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona was top sale at $649,000. A 1952 Mercedes-Benz 300 S brought $506,000.

A lot of new money was in the room, as 40 percent of the bidders were new to Auctions America’s Fort Lauderdale sale.

Barrett-Jackson sales top $23.2 million at Palm Beach

Barrett-Jackson‘s 14th Annual Palm Beach auction hit some big numbers over the weekend:

More than $23.2 million in sales.

More than 65,000 people on the scene.

First-time bidders made up 42 percent of all bids, and the sell-through rate was 96.3 percent.

High sale was Lot 423, a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429, which brought $550,000.

Reggie Jackson Acquires Ownership in Rick Cole Auctions

Rick Cole Auctions has announced that baseball Hall-of-Famer Reggie Jackson has acquired an ownership interest in the company. Mr. Jackson, a decades-long car enthusiast and avid collector, joins company founder Rick Cole and President Terry Price as a full partner in the firm. The three have known each other for more than 30 years. Said Price, “Our business relationship will simply be a natural progression of our long friendship and mutual love of cars. Most of all it will be a lot of fun.”
